The Thorpe Pumping Station Rising Main Burst

The Thorpe Pumping Station Rising Main Burst

There is currently a serious mains burst within the pumping station at the entrance to the Thorpe which is causing considerable disruption and spillage on the road and also involves a stream of heavy tankers using the village roads. Earlier today. Councillor Robin Waters contacted Anglian Water for an update on the situation and this is the response:

"Thank you for your email. I am very sorry that our operations are causing concern for residents and I know this is particularly distressing around Christmas.

On Friday a rising main inside the Hemingford Grey pumping station burst, in this situation unfortunately the tankers are necessary to manage flows.

Due to the complicated nature of fixing this burst, there is no straightforward timeline for resolving this issue, but I will update you again towards the end of the week, where I hope to be able to offer you more information on both* incidents".

* This refers to entirely separate, concurrent ongoing water works also on the corner of The Thorpe.
