Adult Education Budget Consultation 2021 - 22
The Combined Authority is currently running a consultation on a series of improvements to how we spend our Adult Education Budget (AEB). You are welcome to share your views via our consultation survey by 10am on March 16.
The Consultation
Local residents, businesses, colleges and other stakeholders are invited to have a say on how we best use the Adult Education Budget. This consultation is on additional policy changes, which follows the consultation we launched at a similar time last year.
Proposed changes are outlined within the following consultation questions, and we welcome any feedback from a range of stakeholders to inform our thinking as we continue to reform and shape the delivery of AEB in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Responses from this consultation will be used to support the ongoing development of our long-term vision for skills, the AEB funding rules and the new Economic Growth and Skills Strategy which is due to be published early this year.
Background
In August 2019, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (the Combined Authority) took on responsibility for our region's share of the Adult Education Budget (AEB). This provides us with a unique opportunity to tailor our adult education and skills provision to ensure residents of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough can learn and develop their skills to succeed.
In our third year of delivery for the AEB for the 2021/22 academic year, the Combined Authority made some changes to funding policy following a consultation with existing AEB providers in early 2021. This enabled us to extend the eligibility for full funding of courses to more of our residents. Some of the changes included extra funding for young people aged 19-24 and for adults wishing to study a second level 3 or a level 4 qualification.
We will continuously review the effects of these policy changes and continue with them for a further year and access the impact on our residents.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you
Parminder Singh Garcha,
Senior Responsible Officer, Adult Education Budget.
